Core Parts of an Electrostatic Powder Coating Line
- Hang conveyor: a pass-through suspension chain conveyor, which can be equipped with a die-forged chain or an accumulation chain according to the characteristics of the product on load; the conveyor is a closed-loop design and continuously passes through each processing node according to the process flow and speed frequency.
- Pre-treatment: Mainly includes grinding, degreasing, cleaning, ceramic/phosphating and other processes to ensure the cleanliness and surface protection of the product before powder spraying.
- Drying furnace: After pre-treatment and before powder coating, the product must be completely dry and maintain a certain residual temperature to improve powder adhesion.
- Powder coating booth: The mono cyclone automatic recycling powder coating booth is a sandwich structure of non-stick engineering plastics, the powder recovery rate can reach more than 98%.
- Powder curing furnace: Gas-fired central heating furnace can ensure that the furnace temperature is steplessly adjusted between RT-220 degrees. The air supply structure is reasonable and comes with a safety alarm device.
- Spray method: The powder coating booth is equipped with 2 up and down reciprocators. Manual operation platform at the entrance and exit can be equipped with a robot for full automatic operation.
- Electric control: The powder coating process is controlled by PLC & HMI, all crucial components are Siemens production.
The principle of electrostatic powder spraying: a high-voltage corona discharge electric field is formed between the spray gun and the workpiece. When the powder particles are ejected from the spray gun mouth and pass through the discharge area, a large number of electrons are collected and become negatively charged particles. Under the action of electrostatic attraction, they are adsorbed to the positively charged workpiece. When the powder adheres to a certain thickness, a “like poles repel” effect will occur and the powder can no longer be adsorbed, so that the thickness of the powder layer in each part is uniform, and then the powder layer is leveled into a uniform film layer after heating, baking and solidification.
A typical powder electrostatic spraying process: Loading → Degreasing → Cleaning → Rust removal → Cleaning → Phosphating → Cleaning → Passivation → Powder spraying → Solidification → Cooling → Unloading
